Essex Farm was started in 2003 by Mark and Kristin Kimball with the goal of building an agro-ecosystem that is sustainable economically, environmentally, and socially. To do so, they have harnessed the power of solar along with a team of eight draft horses and they do not use synthetic fertilizers, herbicides, or pesticides. On their 1000 acres of land, they grow/raise vegetables, beef, pork, lamb, poultry, maple, dairy, eggs, owers, wool, and grains which supports and feeds their animals.
